You can make a lasting impact on Maine’s environment, our clean-energy future, and safe and accessible voting—with collective action and equity guiding the way—by making a planned gift to Maine Conservation Voters or Maine Conservation Alliance.

Gifts Through your Will or Trust

A gift made through a will or living trust is convenient to arrange. A simple provision or amendment prepared by your attorney at the time you make or update your will or trust is all that is necessary. Gifts included in wills and living trusts are popular because they are flexible, easy to arrange, and may be changed with your life circumstances.

Here are the most popular ways to give through wills and trusts:

  • Make a gift of a specific amount.
  • Make a gift of a percentage of your estate.
  • Give the remainder, or residue, of your estate to Maine Conservation Voters or Maine Conservation Alliance—that is, what remains after all other gifts to friends and loved ones are satisfied.
  • Provide for a gift of a particular property. Real estate, stocks, and other items of value are examples of properties that can be named to MCV or MCA in your will.
  • Name Maine Conservation Voters or Maine Conservation Alliance to receive a gift before the remainder of the trust is distributed to heirs.

Note: This is not legal advice. State laws vary. To plan a charitable gift through your will or living trust, consult with your attorney.

Gifts by Beneficiary

Continue your support for Maine Conservation Voters or Maine Conservation Alliance for years to come by naming our organization as a beneficiary of your retirement account, life insurance plan, bank account, or other assets. This is one of the easiest ways to give. This doesn’t require an estate plan or lawyer, and you can change your beneficiaries at any time.

It only takes three simple steps to make this type of gift:

  1. Contact your retirement plan administrator, insurance company, bank or financial institution for a change-of-beneficiary form.
  2. Decide what percentage (1 to 100) you would like us to receive and name us, along with the percentage you chose, on the beneficiary form.
  3. Return the completed form to your plan administrator, insurance company, bank or financial institution.
